About
Margarita McLaughlin
I started my career working with children and families in community mental health. I developed a passion for helping, individuals, couples and families, repair ruptures, conflicts
and build trust and reliance with each other.
My recent experience working with individuals and families in residential treatment has increased my effectiveness working with people and families, in crisis. The urgency of working within the designated timeline of insurance companies has created a need for families whose insurance has denied coverage for their loved one, when they are still in need of
family-individual therapy and parent coaching.
My style of therapy is about understanding how each individual’s experiences and abilities impact their relationships. I work to create a safe, emphatic relationships where we can explore the challenges and obstacles that keep your relationships from thriving.
I want to know how you want, your relationships, life, career, to look and reflect your best self. We can identify your strengthens and experiences to develop a road map to get there. I have helped people of all ages and life stages learn to develop and create their best life and I can help you too.
Through out my years working with individuals, couples and family's I have learned that communication and listening are not skills that we are born with. Our individual backgrounds teach us how to see the world and that unique vision does not always match what other people understand and see in their world. I can help you communicate your thoughts and needs so that others will understand you.
As a Latina woman, I understand how culture can make it difficult for you to seek help. I strive to create an emphatic and safe environment for us to work together to overcome your challenges and obstacles.
I specialize in helping people overcome challenges with
anxiety and depression, family conflict, stress and trauma.
I work with adolescents - through late adulthood,
as individuals, couples and families.
My professional training was completed at Pepperdine University
where I earned a graduate degree with honors.
I am experienced working with
Attachment Based Family Therapy/ Emotionally Focused Therapy
"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't you so that you can be who you were meant to be in the first place."
Paulo Coelho
As individuals we are taught by our families the roles of each person in a relationship. We have learned the definition of relationships, words, traditions and how to exist from our parents. Let us begin to understand who we want to be in our current relationship without the past interfering.
